Two Sharks Honored as SSC Athletes of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. - On Monday afternoon, the Sunshine State Conference announced the Players of the Week for the week of October 13 - October 19. Nova Southeastern's Olivia Aniol (Volleyball) and Kristina Orban (Women's Swimming) were both honored following their respective performances last week.

Aniol was named Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, her fourth SSC Weekly award. Aniol averaged 1.75 blocks per set as the Sharks went 2-0 in conference play. The Tarpon Springs, Florida product totaled a match-high nine blocks in a 3-1 win over Florida Tech. She followed five blocks in a 3-1 win at Embry-Riddle. Aniol also provided the Sharks with 14 kills, an assist, and a dig last week.

Orban, a sophomore, was the top swimmer for Nova Southeastern in a dual meet against Rollins and tri-meet against St. Thomas and Barry last week. The Swede had two individual first place finishes against Rollins. She won the 100 fly with a NCAA "B" cut of 55.94 and the 50 free by narrowly missing a NCAA D2 provisional time at 23.64. She also powered the Sharks to 200 medley relay and 400 free relay wins against Rollins. In the tri-meet, Orban won the 200 free with a 1:53.23 mark and led the Sharks to victories in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. The weekly award is the third of her career.
