Santiago Hoyos Lopez and women's soccer's
Sofia Suarez were among Monday's honorees.
Hoyos Lopez scored four times as Nova Southeastern defeated Tampa and Florida Southern last week. The Colombian began his week with a pair of goals in NSU's 3-2 win over Tampa. Hoyos Lopez scored the 1-1 equalizer in the 27th minute, before hitting the game-winner in the 88th minute. The senior followed with both goals in a 2-1 win at Florida Southern. Hoyos Lopez again knocked in the 1-1 equalizer, this time in the 76th minute. He then secured the game with a penalty kick goal in the 82nd minute. For the week, Hoyos Lopez tallied his four goals, including two game winners and two game-tying scores, off nine total shots and five shots on goal while averaging 86 minutes on the pitch.
Suarez scored twice as Nova Southeastern posted shutout wins at Tampa and against Florida Southern. The senior from Miami Lakes, Florida, knocked in an insurance goal in the form of a penalty kick in the 72nd minute during NSU's victory over Tampa. Suarez followed with the lone score in a 1-0 result against Florida Southern, finding the back of the net in the 15th minute from a
Genesis Hernandez assist. Suarez's two goals came off six shots, two of which were on goal, during her 173 minutes on the pitch. The weekly award is the second of her career.
