ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced All-Conference honors on Thursday afternoon, and the Nova Southeastern Sharks had seven honorees. The Sharks won the Coach of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, and the Freshman of the Year Awards. NSU was also well-represented on the All-SSC Teams.
"The NSU staff are extremely proud of this group; congratulations to our current team on winning the SSC and the awards that have followed," said head coach
Amy Vaughan. "An incredible achievement that reflects not only their hard work and commitment, but also the foundation built by the players who came before them. Every training session, every match, and every challenge over the years has shaped the identity we now proudly represent. As a staff, we couldn't be prouder, not just for the title and the trophies, but for the way they've played true to the identity and values that define our program."
Vaughan was voted SSC Coach of the Year, her first time receiving the honor. This season, she's currently guided the Sharks to a 14-0-3 record, including a 7-0-3 mark in SSC play. For her career, she has a 34-11-8 record as NSU's head coach and has guided the Sharks to two consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Senior
Sofia Suarez won the SSC Offensive Player of the Year Award and was also voted to the All-SSC First Team for the second year in a row. Per the league office, the Miami Lakes, Florida native led the league in goals (12), goals per game (.71), and game-winning goals (4). She was second in points (29) and points per game (1.71). In SSC play, she found the back of the net eight times in 10 games, scoring three game-winners and providing her team with two assists. Suarez is the third Shark to win SSC Offensive Player of the Year.
Graduate student
Kajsa Lang won SSC Defensive Player of the Year and was also voted to the All-SSC First Team. Per the league office, the graduate student from Kalmar, Sweden, played over 1450 minutes for a Sharks defense that registered nine shutouts and held opponents to SSC-leading numbers in goals allowed (4) and goals allowed per game (0.4) during conference play. Lang is the third Shark to win SSC Defensive Player of the Year and the first since 2017.
Oliwia Loeman was voted Co-SSC Freshman of the Year and also made the All-SSC Second Team. Loeman currently has six goals, two assists, and 14 points on the season. It's the second year in a row the Sharks have won the award, as
Alexa Bereczki won the honor last season.
The Sharks were well represented on the All-SSC Teams. Joining Suarez and Lang on the All-SSC First Team is sophomore
Genesis Hernandez, who has 12 goals, five assists, and 30 points on the year. Joining Loeman on the All-SSC Second Team are
Freya Jones and the aforementioned
Alexa Bereczki. Bereczki, who has eight goals, three assists, and 19 points, had a stellar performance on Monday night, recording two goals and an assist in the SSC quarterfinals against Barry. Closing out the honors for NSU on the All-SSC Third Team is defender
Stina Roswall.

The Sharks, who were also just bumped into the USCA Top 10 national rankings at #10, will look to carry this momentum into tonight's semifinal match versus the Florida Southern Mocs at 7 pm.
