Sharks Travel to Tallahassee for FSU Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Nova Southeastern University Men's and Women's cross country teams traveled to Tallahassee for the Florida State Cross Country Invitational on Friday morning. It was their first meet since September 12, and both squads placed in the top 15, with the men finishing 12th overall in the 8K and second behind Tampa but ahead of SSC foes Florida Tech and Barry. The women placed 11th in the 6K, also ahead of Barry. 

Breakdown (Men's 8K)
  • Jaime Blazquez paced the Sharks with a time of 25:41.3, which placed him in the top 50 (34th) amongst all runners. 
  • In addition to finishing ahead of Florida Tech and Barry, the men's team also beat out Division I opponents South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Bethune-Cookman and Florida International.
Breakdown (Women's 6K)
  • After being named SSC Runner of the Week for September 8th-14th, Jillian Thorning led the Sharks, finishing with a time of 21:36.2, good enough for 13th overall and placing in the top 15.
  • The women's team also finished ahead of Division I foes FAU, South Florida, Jacksonville and Stetson in the final team tally.
What's Next
The Sharks will be back in action next Friday, October 3, at the Florida Runners Invitational in Lakeland, FL.
