KENOSHA, Wisc. - Nova Southeastern's
Jillian Thorning ran a season- and personal-best time at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday morning, as the junior finished top-40 in the Women's 6K with a time of 21:04.0. For her efforts, she was named an NCAA Division II First Team All-American, the first in NSU Women's Cross Country history, capping yet another successful season.
Thorning's time of 21:04.0 was a personal-best, as she beat her old time of 21:04.8 which she set at the 2024 UAH Charger Invitational. This most recent finish is now etched in the program record book, second only to teammate
Leena Saidi's 20:48.2, which was set at the 2023 NCAA South Region Championship.
The All-American distinction is the latest honor for Thorning, as the junior was also named SSC Runner of the Year for the second year in a row, was named First Team All-SSC and won the Sunshine State Conference Individual Championship.
With this successful season now in the books, Thorning and the Sharks will now prepare for the Outdoor Track season, set to commence in the spring. To stay up-to-date on Sharks Cross Country, be sure to follow on Instagram and Twitter at NSU_XCTF.
