Ponsdomenech earns the win at the Jay Jennison Cup, the Sharks place 5th overall

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University Men's golf team concluded play at the Jay Jennison Cup at World Golf Village on Tuesday. The Sharks posted a final-round 348 to finish the tournament in 5th place at (E/375/374/348). NSU was led by Ivan Ponsdomenech who was the individual winner at (-8/71/71/66).

How it Happened

  • Ivan Ponsdomenech (-8/71/71/66) was off to a rocky start in round two totaling five pars and one birdie on the front nine. Ponsdomenech hit his stride on the back nine, shooting four consecutive pars and three birdies to close the round at one-under. In the final round Ponsdomenech totaled six pars and two birdies on the front nine, on the back nine Ponsdomenech added three birdies, five pars and an eagle on the 14th hole, finishing the tournament at eight-under and in first place.
  • Mateo Desmond (+7/81/74/68) totaled six pars and two birdies on the front nine. Desmond then settled in on the back nine, shooting par on five holes and a birdie. In the final round Desmond shot six pars and two birdies, on the turn Desmond added four more birdies and an eagle finishing the tournament at seven-over.
  • James Humphries (+5/76/74/71) had an up-and-down second round, totaling three birdies and 10 pars. Humphries began the third round with three consecutive pars, adding three more pars and a birdie through the front nine, Humphries then shot bogey free through the final nine totaling three birdies to finish the tournament five-over.
  • Elias Mardeni (+7/77/75/71) began his second round with a total of 14 pars and a highlight of an eagle on the 14th hole. Mardeni began his third round by shooting par on five straight holes and eight total on the front nine, Mardeni tallied three birdies and five pars to complete the tournament seven-over. 
  • Bruno Marques (+6/70/80/72) opened up his second round with pars on the first five holes, hitting the turn with a birdie. Marques added six pars on the back nine. The third round began with five consecutive pars once again for Marques, with birdies on two in a row heading into the turn. Marques then eagled the fourteenth hole and added six pars to his total as he finished the tournament six-over.
