Marques Claims Runner-Up Finish as Sharks Place Second Overall

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No.12 Nova Southeastern University Men's Golf team completed play at the 2026 Shark Invitational in second place (-17/345/337/374). Individually the Sharks had a trio of top-10 finishes, Bruno Marques (-6) placed second in the tournament, Ivan Ponsdomenech (-4) finished tied for sixth, and Rodrigo Huerta (-3) placed in a tie for 10th.

How it Happened
  • Bruno Marques (-6/71/65/71) began day one of the tournament is stellar fashion, shooting bogey free through the front nine and totaling birdies on the fifth and eighth holes. Marques worked through the back nine, adding a birdie and five pars to his opening round total. In his second round Marques once again dominated as he completed all 18 with an unblemished sheet, totaling four birdies and an eagle on the 15th hole. In the third round Marques got off to another quick start, totaling three pars and a birdie in consecutive order to begin the round, Marques put together a stretch of 22 consecutive holes shooting par or better dating back to the beginning of round two. Marques added a birdie and 11 pars as he completed the tournament six-under and placed second individually.
  • Ivan Ponsdomenech (-4/70/68/71) put together a strong open to his tournament totaling a pair of birdies and five pars on the front nine. After hitting the turn Ponsdomenech found his form, shooting flawlessly through the back nine with a birdie on the 14th, Ponsdomenech strung together a streak of 14 consecutive holes without a bogey in the opening round. Ponsdomenech carried the early momentum into his second round where he shot par or better on 17 of 18 holes, totaling four birdies, and extended his streak of bogey free shooting to an incredible 31 consecutive holes. In the final round Ponsdomenech totaled four birdies and 11 pars, as he finished the tournament four-under in a tie for sixth place.
  • Rodrigo Huerta (-3/67/66/77) began his tournament in string form, shooting par on six holes and birdies on the third and ninth. Huerta hit the turn and shot flawlessly during the back nine with three birdies. Beginning the second round Huerta extended a person a streak of 20 consecutive holes of par or better shooting, Huerta dominated the remainder of the round as he totaled seven birdies and five pars. In his final round Huerta added three birdies to his tournament total, as he finished three-under and tied for 10th place.
  • Elias Mardeni (+1/65/71/78) got off to a wonderful start in his first round, shooting par or better on eight of the front nine holes with two birdies on the second and eighth. On the back nine Mardeni stayed in great form, as he added five birdies and shot bogey free. Mardeni carried his positive momentum into his second round, as he added a pair of birdies to his tally, and shot even through the round. Mardeni completed his run in the tournament by adding a birdie and 10 pars in the third round, as he finished one-over and placed inside the top-20 individually.
  • Jorge Berea (+3/72/67/77) opened his tournament with five consecutive holes of par or better shooting adding a birdie on the fourth hole, in the rest of the round Berea totaled seven pars and birdies on the 13th and 15th. In the second round Berea put together his best golf of the day as he shot flawlessly through the front nine with birdies on the fourth and eighth holes. Berea hit the turn and continued adding to his impressive round, as he collected three birdies and five pars. In his final round Berea finished by adding 13 pars to his tournament score, as he finished three-over.
