BOX SCORE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
Seven different Sharks scored a goal as the No. 21 Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (4-0-0) punished the net against Johnson & Wales (0-2-0), winning 9-0.

The goal total is two shy of a Sharks record for most goals in a game set on Sept. 28 1998 against Northwood.

Rachael Reid (Sr., Plainfield, Ind.), Kylie Griffiths (Fr., Orlando, Fla.), Melissa Madden (Fr., Vero Beach, Fla.), Shelby Wright (Jr., Yuma, Ariz.)Alexandra Siciliano (So., New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and Sarah Wareham (Sr., Davie, Fla.) all scored their first goal of the season and Shanoska Young (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica) added her third goal of the season.

Madden and Wareham scored two goals apiece.

The Sharks were busy in the first-half scoring six goals at a lightning-quick pace, beginning with Reid's decisive goal less-than two-minutes into the match.

Young would find the back of the net next for the Sharks scoring at the 18:14 mark after Deirdre Long (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla.) served her a ball from the middle of the field to the right, for a left footed strike. The assist by Long was the first of her collegiate career.

An avalanche of goals would follow for the Sharks as they scored four in the next 20 minutes. The scoring-spree started with a goal by Griffiths at 22:44 and ended with Wright’s goal assisted by Shadia Blair (Fr., Springfield, Mass.) at 41:40 giving the Sharks a 6-0 lead heading into half-time.

With a six goal cushion the Sharks retired goalkeeper Chrissy Hy (Sr., Weston, Fla.) for the evening, allowing Michelle Fuerst (Jr., Armonk, N.Y.) to make her season debut in goal. Hy faced zero shots while in goal for 45-minutes and was credited with the win.

The Sharks maintained possession of the ball the entire game preventing the Wildcats from taking a shot in the game. On the other hand, the Sharks took 30 shots during the game, 15 in each period.

Goalkeeper Darcilyn Butala, was credited with the loss for Johnson & Wales after allowing nine goals and making 13 saves in 90-minutes.
