Combined no-hitter projects Sharks over the Golden Knights, 16-0.

BOX SCORE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
The Nova Southeastern baseball team (11-7) dominated visiting Saint Rose Golden Knights (2-10) Saturday at the NSU Baseball Complex with a combined no-hit shutout in the seven-inning contest.

The Sharks utilized three pitchers, Tyler Redding (Sr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) (1-0), Alexander Kline (Fr., Coral Springs, Fla.) and Patrick Kulick (So., Coral Spings), who threw a combined no-hitter, facing 23 total batters with zero walks and a combined eight strikeouts. Redding got the start and captured his first win of the season, facing 17 of the 23 batters, registering four strikeouts. In relief, Kline and Kulick each faced three batters and recorded four total strikeouts, two and two, respectively.

The Sharks offense chalked up 16 runs on 13 hits in the contest and was led by Brett Clements (Sr., Riverview, Fla.) and Jose Rodriguez (Sr., Hialeah, Fla.) at the dish. Clements in his second consecutive big-game performance went 2-for-3 with one run scored and a team high five RBI. Rodriguez went a perfect 3-for-3, scoring three runs and adding one RBI.

One inning was all that was needed for NSU, scoring two runs in the first and 14 combined in the ensuing three innings. In the bottom of the first it was Carlos Asuaje (Jr., Weston, Fla.), who scored first for the Sharks from third off a wild pitch after walking during his at bat and advancing with a stolen base and a throwing error by the Golden Knights pitcher. With William Rudolph (Jr., Parkland, Fla.) and Rodriguez on first and second, respectively, Rodriguez was driven home off a RBI single to center field by Clements to score the Sharks second run to extend the lead, 2-0.

The Sharks piled on the runs in the second, scoring six, which half came off a hard hit ball down the left field line by Kevin Reynolds (Jr., Ft. Myers, Fla.) with the bases load to round Asuaje, Kavan Thompson (Fr., Melbourne, Fla.) and Angel Navarro (So., Miami Lakes, Fla.).

NSU continued to their offensive dominance in the third, scoring three runs on two hits while adding five more runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead, 16-0, and put the game far out of reach for the Golden Knights.

The Sharks coasted through the remaining two and a half innings, shutting out the Golden Knights in the seven-inning contest.

The Sharks are back in action again tomorrow, March 10 on the road against Caldwell, playing at a neutral location with first pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
