FINAL RESULTS
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The No. 1 men’s golf team, after a weather-shortened first day at the Buccaneer Invitational, captured its third tournament crown of the season at the Par-71 Normandy Shores Golf Club, shooting a three round -25 (286-270-271—827).
The Sharks' 25-under was 13-strokes better then anyone in the field with second place being awarded to No. 2 Barry, who shot a -12 (284-278-278—840). NSU shot the two lowest rounds of the tournament with a -14 (270) second round, followed by a -13 (271) in the final round, which lead to three top-five individual finishers.
Leading the way for the Sharks and back in his slot at the top,
Benjamin Taylor (Jr., Leatherhead, England) took the individual crown shooting a -9 (71-66-67—204). Taylor’s second round of 66 was tied for the lowest individual round and helped him capture the victory, defeating Scott Smyers of Barry by three strokes.
Hunter O'Mahony (Fr., Jupiter, Fla.), after finishing the first day in ninth, worked his way up the board for a share of third after carding a -5 (71-69-68—208), which was only four strokes off teammate Taylor.
Claiming the last top-five spot in fifth was
Ian Facey (So., Miami, Fla.), who had two rounds under-par but slipped slightly in the final round, carding a -4 (69-67-73—209). Facey was one stroke off a share of third with O’Mahony, which is where he was placed, heading into today’s final round.
Mitch Farrer (Jr., West Sussex, England) rounded out the scores for the Sharks with Farrer, claiming a share of 15th, shooting a +1 (77-68-69—214). Farrer had a phenomenal end to the tournament but had a bit of a rough go in the first round, which cost him additional movement up the leaderboard.
Ricardo Celia (Jr., Barranquilla, Columbia) carded a +4 (75-75-67—217), which was good for a share of 20th and teammate
James Swan (So., London, England), who golfed as an individual, shot a +8 (72-72-77—221), which gave him a share of 42nd..
Of the Sharks top-four scorers, they shot an impressive 11 of the 12 total rounds under-par.
