LIVE SCORING
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's golf team has their final tournament before postseason play begins, traveling to the west coast to take part in Cal State Monterey Bay's Otter Invitational this upcoming Monday and Tuesday.
The Sharks fell just a stroke short of their second consecutive tournament win, placing as runner-up in last week's Barry U Women's Invitational. That marked their sixth top-three finish in eight events this year with only the Otter Invite to go. Beginning Monday and concluding Tuesday, the competition will be at the Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Club in Seaside, California.
Jamie Freedman (Fr., Plantation, Fla.) was the second-lowest scorer out of a field of 88 last week, shooting even-par for the entire tournament. Two more Sharks had exemplary showings, as
Liliana Cammisa (Sr., Alta Gracia, Aregentina) was fifth and
Mailen Domecq Chantry (Fr., Mar del Plata, Argentina) seventh.
Those three also have the lowest scoring averages on the season for NSU, with Cammisa 19th in the nation at 75.4 to pace the team. Domecq Chantry (76.1, 37th) and Freedman (76.3, 41st) slot just ahead of senior
Daniela Ortiz (Sr., Morelia, Mexico), who is at an even 77. A third freshman,
Emily-Mae Hall (Nottinghamshire, England) averages 77.9.
Following Tuesday's wrapup, the team sets it sights on the SSC Championships, to be held this season in Sorrento, Florida at the Red Tail Golf Club. That will begin in a shade under two weeks, on April 12.
