HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES:
- The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after claiming the victory at No. 3.
- The sixth-ranked pair of Andrea Ivanovic and Daniela Obando tied to match, 1-1, with an 8-5 win over Maria Turrillo and Kathryn Brock in the top slot.
- Embry-Riddle would take a 2-1 lead into singles, though, winning a back-and-forth battle at No. 2.
SINGLES
- Ana Navas opened up singles play with a quick 6-0, 6-4 victory over Turrillo in the top-flight, evening the match at 2-2.
- Isabella Lowrey would later hand the Sharks their first lead of the day, defeating Brock in a narrow 6-4, 6-4 final at No. 5.
- Obando increased the advantage for the Sharks to 4-2 following a 6-1, 6-3 win over Georgina Wood at No. 3.
- Embry-Riddle pulled back within one at 4-3, but Ivanovic shut the door on any chance of an Eagles comeback after rallying from one set down to claim the victory for the Sharks following a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Roberta Krvajica at No. 2.
