CONDITIONS:
Sunny, with a slight chop in the water.

RACE FORMAT:
Head race style, one boat starting at a time and chase style, trying to catch the boat in front and stay ahead of the boat behind.
The course was 4,000 meters with very little turns.

RESULTS:
Varsity 8 Collegiate Championship: Varsity 4 Collegiate Championship:
  • Following the V8s, NSU split its lineups up for the V4s, deploying an all freshman group, all senior squad, as well as a mix of juniors and sophomores to feature three boats in the race.
  • The junior Sadlow, led seniors Sansur, Switzer, Vegas and Orr to the fastest time of all NSU boats with a sixth place finish at 17:23.51
  • Seven seconds later, the B boat mixed with underclassmen Carollo, Jawor, and Verbraeken, as well as upperclassman Morris and Moss placed in 8th with a 17.30.51 time.
  • The freshman crew was directed by sophomore coxswain Herlihy, as Boettger , Epp, Pischedda, and Treanor were the final boat to cross for NSU, placing ninth overall, 23 seconds behind the seniors at 17:48.19.

BEYOND THE RESULTS WITH COACH FAY:
  • "It is always interesting to see the margins with Barry, but today the focus was solely on us as a team," said head coach Devin Fay. "It was great to see us closer in the V8 for the entire 4000m this year, but as a team we're less focused on the results and more on executing the tactics we have been practicing, as well as rowing together as one synergistic unit."
  • "Today's results show off our quality depth and as a result, we are starting to see some movement with our top end speeds. The important thing is our team is happy and excited to continue our commitment to improvement going into the next race and ultimately into the winter training season," said Fay.
