CLERMONT, Fla. – Closing out play in THE Spring Games on Monday morning, the Nova Southeastern softball team fell twice at the hands of Davenport and Kentucky Wesleyan. The Sharks fell to DU 5-3 to start the day before KWU used a walk-off 2-1 win to take the final game away from NSU.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST | The Panthers earned their first run of the game as Gabby Palazzolo, who led off with a double and was advanced on a passed ball, scored on a foul out.
BOTTOM 1ST | Leadoff batter
Tia Williams singled and then took advantage of a throwing error by DU's pitcher to put the Sharks in scoring position. A
Suka Van Gurp advanced her to third before an RBI-single by
Aubry Hernandez scored Williams to tie up the game 1-1.
TOP 2ND | Davenport regained their lead in the next inning as a Kennedy Crawford RBI-single score Alexa Flores, who led off with a single to left field.
TOP 4TH | A two-run homer by Lauren French pushed Davenport's lead out to 4-1.
TOP 5TH | The Panthers tallied their final run of the game as Selene Pauley doubled to center field to score Palazzolo, who singled the at bat before.
BOTTOM 7TH | The Sharks hinted at a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, tallying two runs to cut the deficit to two, but ultimately came up short. Williams tripled to right center to start the inning before Van Gurp doubled down the left field line to score her two batters later. The next batter,
Miriam Schmoll singled up the middle to score Van Gurp and bring the score to 5-3, the eventual final. A single by
Sydney Casteel loaded up the bases with one out, but back-to-back outs by the Sharks ended the game.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Van Gurp finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Aubry Hernandez was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
- Williams was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
- Lexie Storrer took the loss after allowing five runs (4 ER) off nine hits with two strikeouts.
- The Sharks outhit the Panthers 10-9.

FINAL: Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers 2 (M. Brown, 1-1), Nova Southeastern Sharks 1 (L: M. Schmoll, 4-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 7TH | After six innings of scoreless play for either team, Van Gurp tallied NSU's first hit and run of the game with a single shot over the left center fence.
BOTTOM 7TH | The Panthers responded in the bottom half of the inning, stealing a walk-off win from the Sharks after taking advantage of a wild pitch and an RBI-single to left by Delaney Mixer.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Van Gurp tallied the lone hit for NSU while Schmoll was walked once.
- Schmoll also took the loss after tossing all 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
UP NEXT
The Sharks will return to Sunshine State Conference play this weekend as they host the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a three-game series starting on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.
