HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST | The Bucs were the first team to score, taking an early 1-0 lead with a solo homer to left field by Peyton Rawls.
TOP 2ND | The Sharks responded with a homer of their own, but it was a two-run homerun by
Alex Suzuki, bringing home
Keeley Mayers as well for a 2-1 NSU edge.
BOTTOM 3RD | With two outs on the board, Barry was able to steal back the lead, taking advantage of a bases-loaded walk and an error by the Sharks' infield, tallying three runs to go up 4-2.
TOP 4TH | Nova Southeastern was quick to recover, however, tying the game in the next inning.
Kayla Kight led off with a double to right center before stealing third. The next batter,
Sydney Lageyre, was walked to put runners on the corners before an RBI bunt-single by
Tia Williams scored Kight to make it 4-3. The tying run came from an RBI-double by
Miriam Schmoll, who plated Williams, after Lageyre was caught stealing.
TOP 5TH | Recording the third homerun of the day, Mayers put the Sharks back on the winning side, 5-4, with a solo shot to right center.
BOTTOM 5TH | The game saw its third tie in the bottom of the fifth as Rawls used an RBI-double to score Starling, bringing it to 5-5.
TOP 6TH | The final two runs of the game came in the next half inning, giving NSU its eventual 7-5 victory. With Lageyre on third and Williams at second,
Suka Van Gurp was unsurprisingly intentionally walked, loading the bases. After a line out by Schmoll allowed the Bucs to catch Lageyre at third as well, the next batter,
Aubry Hernandez, brought home Williams and Van Gurp for the winning tallies.
