DELAND, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Women's Rowing team made the program's long-awaited return to the water on Saturday, competing at the Deland Double Duals, hosted by Stetson. NSU competed against Jacksonville University, Rollins College, University of Connecticut, Wesleyan University and Stetson during the event.

The Sharks first race came at 11:30 a.m., as the varsity-four+ boat of
Mollie Ireland,
Camila Rodriguez,
Emma Hickey,
Jordan Maruskin and
Lauren Gray (coxswain) posted a time of 8:27.4, placing in second-place, and nearly five seconds ahead of Rollins.
Later on, the novice-eight+ boat of
Ysabel Ribeiro,
Chrysta Snair,
V Robinson,
Ella Riddle,
Sejal Jain,
Amanda Bogle, Sophia Florez,
Triumph Perry and
Anaiya Person (coxswain) posted a time of 8:02.9.
In the afternoon session, the varsity-four+ crew of Ireland, Rodriguez, Hickey, Maruskin and Gray (coxswain) posted a time of 8:32.4, besting Stetson (8:34.4) and Rollins (8:37.8).
Nova Southeastern wrapped up competition with another run of the novice-eight+ boat, as Ribeiro, Snair, Robinson, Riddle, Jain, Bogle,
Julianna Becerra, Perry and
Yasmine Chiadmi (coxswain) recorded a time of 8:11.3.

Head Coach Kim Chavers – "It was exciting to not only have our program's first races but to see where we stand at the start of the season. We had some good learning experiences and performances on the course, including a win from the Varsity Four+ in the afternoon. Overall, we had a really strong first race weekend and are looking forward to the season getting underway."

Nova Southeastern Rowing returns to action on Saturday, March 23
