The 2012 NCAA Division II Individual National Champion, Gittings led the Sharks to three consecutive Sunshine State Conference Championships and three straight NCAA National Championships (2010-12) during her illustrious career at NSU. A three-time recipient of WGCA First-Team All-American honors, Gittings also was named the 2010 DII National Freshman of the Year and was awarded the 2012 SSC Female Athlete of the Year and the NBCA/PING National Player of the Year. Gittings ranks third all-time at NSU with five career wins.   

Gittings excelled in the classroom, as well, adding two WGCA All-American Scholar awards (2012, 2013) and was named to the Capital One Academic All-American At-large team in 2012. Abbey ranks fourth in Nova Southeastern Women's Golf history in scoring average (75.37), second in rounds played (126), and third in career birdies (254). Gittings concluded her collegiate career as the third ranked golfer in NCAA Division II.  
Gittings currently is a PGA qualified professional and after three years on the Ladies European Tour (LET) has transitioned to a full-time golf coach from the Marbella Golf Country Club.
