When the Sharks entered the Sunshine State Conference in 2004, Katie Veltri would breakout as one of the best athletes on campus. After four seasons, she sits atop of the record books in RBI (174), total bases (382) and doubles (51). She is also top-10 in six other major categories, including home runs, hits and triples. As for single-season records, Veltri is first in RBI (66), second in total bases (137) and second in hits (251). Veltri started in 223 of the 225 games she played in. She recorded a .368 batting average in 682 plate appearances.

Veltri was the first softball player to be named a NCAA All-American during the 2006-2007 seasons. She was named to the First Team by both the NFCA and Daktronics, Inc. Veltri was also the team's first Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year in that same season. She hit for the triple-crown (conference leader in batting average, home runs and RBI) and also led the SSC in hits, runs scored, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Despite playing multiple positions, Veltri only made one error in 227 chances for a .996 fielding percentage in her four years at NSU. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports and recreation management. She is currently a title processor at Universal Land Title in West Palm Beach.
