TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern cross country teams ended the regular season schedule at the Florida State Invitational Friday. Outside of NCAA Division I teams, the Sharks placed third on the women's side while the men placed sixth.
Alexandria Palm (Sr., Winnebago, Ill.) broke her own NSU record in the women's 5K event by one second. She placed seventh with a time of 18:26.28. Palm will look to defend her crown at conference in two weeks. On the men's side,
Timo Kilp (Sr., Tallinn, Estonia) had his best meet of the season. Kilp set his personal best time in the 8K by finishing in 26:08.47. His time solidifies him as one of the ten fastest runners in program history.
For the women,
Rose Howell (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) had a career-best meet with a time of 18:30.83. Howell's time placed eighth overall. Palm is the only runner in program history to top her time on Friday.
Peri Bowman (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) came in 16th place with a time of 18:57.57. It is her new personal best in the 5K.
Aimee Sims (Jr., St. Anne, Ill.) finished in 19:51.45, good for 30th place.
Brittaney Smash (Sr., Arlington, Texas) and
Brittany White (Jr., Bangor, Pa.) finished back-to-back with times of 20:00.81 and 20:02.16, respectively.
On the men's side,
Luis Gonzalez (Jr., Hereford, Ariz.) had his best 8K race as a Shark, placing 25th with a time of 26:10.56.
Long Tran (Sr., Saigon, Vietnam) placed third among Sharks in 28th place with a time of 26:19.05. Five seconds behind was Brittany's brother,
Wade White (Fr., Bangor, Pa.), in 31st place.
Benjamin Manuel (Fr., Willemstad, Curacao) placed 46th overall with a time of 26:41.77.
The Sunshine State Conference Cross Country Championship is scheduled for Oct. 26 in St. Leo, Fla. The men's team will enter the event as the defending champions.
