ORLANDO, Fla. – The No 1 Nova Southeastern rowing team earned six wins over No. 5 Central Oklahoma in a duel Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
NSU and UCO raced three events twice, the varsity-8, varsity-4 and the novice-4. The eight boat took its wins each by at least 11 seconds. The Sharks finished the first race in a time 7:10.9, compared to UCO's time of 7:21.9. In the second race, the Sharks finished in 7:20.6, defeating the opposition by 23.9 seconds.
The V8 boat was comprised of: coxswain

Bethany Warlich (Fr., Leeds Point, N.J.),
Stephanie Hauck (Sr., Somers Point, N.J.), Megan O'Donnell (Jr., Lake Worth, Fla.),
Adrianna Rosario (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.),
Emily Harrington (Sr., Virginia Beach, Fla.),
Remi McClellan (Jr., Mullica, N.J.) and
Kelly Scott (Jr., Hobe Sound, Fla.).
"Everyone has been anticipating racing UCO for weeks now, they are a good team with a lot of fight," said Berger. "I'm extremely proud of our performance today across the board. All boats and each individual person gave their all and committed to the race. It's really nice to see everyone put out their hardest and best work, and know all the hard work we've been doing is worth it. We have a long season and a long way to go, but we are ready."
The Sharks won their two varsity-4 races by even wider margins. NSU won the first race with a time of 8:21.4 to UCO's 9:13.8. The Sharks pulled ahead by over a minute in the second race, 9:01.3 to 10:07.5.
The four boat was made up of: coxswain

Daesha Roberts (Fr., Yulee, Fla.),
Kelsey Obringer (Jr., Port Republic, N.J.) and
Kristen Page (Fr., San Diego, Calif.).
In the final event, the novice-4, NSU raced an A and B boat from UCO. NSU's boat finished the first race in a time of 8:38 flat. UCO's A boat finished in 9:06.1 while the B boat finished in 9:11.8. In the final race of the day, NSU's boat finished with a time of 8:58.9 for the win. UCO's top boat finished in 9:37.9 while the B boat finished with a time of 9:50.1.
The novice-4 was represented by:
Sarah Erickson (Jr., Sunrise, Fla.),
Caitlin Mooney (Sr., Centerville, Mass.),
Payton Van Horn (So., Jackson, Mich.),
Falon Irwin (Fr., Galloway, N.J.) and
Rebecca Bergen (Jr., Winnipeg, Canada). In the second race,
Hannah DiLorenzo (Fr., Holland Patent, N.Y.) subbed in as the coxswain.
NSU will now set its sights on March 29 when the Sharks face No. 2 Barry in a duel between the nation's top-two teams. The race will be held on the Sharks' home course on the Intracoastal in Hollywood, Fla.
